Membership is by invitation only, and restricted to players over 57 years of age (the 57-60 period enables ‘under-age’ players to participate in appropriate LX matches). Generally a ‘potential’ member is recommended by an LX member, who should preferably contact the Club Secretary with the recommendation. The next step is that the playing standard is vetted by the LX selection committee (LX looks for a standard equal or better than those selected for LX Reds – the second selected side after England GMs). The committee will endeavour to see potential players by watching them play in non-LX game such as the Divisional Tournament at Cannock, or by inviting them to play in LX friendly matches. The committee will then report to the full LX Club committee who will then reach a decision as to whether or not to offer a membership.
