LX CLUB v TROJANS HOCKEY CLUB
TROJANS on TUESDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 2015
Once again there was an excellent turn out, with enough players to enable a round robin of 3 x 40min games to be played. As in the previous fixture in January, the sun came out (this had also been booked for the day) which helped to the enjoyment of the hockey.
The first game between Trojans and LX (A) ended in a 0 – 0 draw with some excellent saves being made by Colin Kimber for LX and by Eric Best (LX) keeping goal for Trojans. Trojans then played LX (B) and were glad that they had Eric in goal as there was a lot of pressure on the Trojans defence. Eventually, LX (B) broke through the Trojans ranks to win 2 – 1. LX (A) then played LX (B) to round off the afternoon’s hockey with the B’s being the slightly stronger side and winning by 1 – 0.
The hockey was once again followed by Trojans Leek & pork sausages, mashed potato, peas and of course the onion gravy, which is the real reason why so many LX members turn up each year for these fixtures, rather than the hockey. Austyn Leaverland, who played an excellent and steady game all afternoon, was nominated as the man of the match award by the organiser.
